Steven Davis in Scott Arfield Rangers exit tribute as he hails 'friends become family' bond

Steven Davis has paid an emotional tribute to Scott Arfield as he exits Rangers.

The Light Blues midfielder is on the search for his next adventure with his contract up at Ibrox. Michael Beale admitted that the decision regarding the 34-year-old was very difficult but ultimately they came to the best conclusion for both the player and club. Fellow veteran Davis is recovering from injury and he will be in an around the first-team for his rehab before a decision is made on himself.

Arfield was one of five to say farewell to the Light Blues faithful last midweek with the fans showing their appreciation with a loud reception and a banner in his honour. Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Filip Helander and Allan McGregor are the other first-team stars moving on this summer as part of the overhaul that has already seen two new players arrive in the shape of Kieran Dowell and Dujon Sterling.

Davis and Arfield didn't only strike a bond on the pitch with the duo great friends off it and their families spending time together. The Northern Ireland international has hailed those times as 'great memories' and knows plenty more will come over the years.

As part of an online tribute to his pal he admitted he's excited to see what is next and also sent his congratulations on 'living the dream'

Uploading a collage of pictures alongside Arfield and his family on his Instagram stories, Davis wrote: "When friends become family, been a pleasure sharing time on/off the pitch with you @scotty.arf & the fam. Great memories made and plenty more to come.

"Congrats on living the dream. Excited to see what's next."
