Steven Davis and Niall McGinn score as Premiership stars lead the way for Northern Ireland

On a bad night for Scotland, Premiership stars shone brightly for Northern Ireland as they kicked off their Euro 2020 qualification campaign with a 2-0 win against Estonia.

Aberdeen star Niall McGinn found the net before skipper Steven Davis made sure of the three points.

Davis' Rangers team-mate Gareth McAuley was ruled out through injury and Northern Ireland were frustrated throughout the first and went into the break deadlocked.

But they made the breakthrough in the 56th minute when Kyle Lafferty showed good strength to battle for the ball before laying it off to McGinn who rifled home.

And skipper Davis made sure of the points for the hosts at Windsor Park from the spot with just under a quarter of an hour to go, as he stroked the ball straight down the middle.

It secured a 2-0 victory and an ideal start to the qualification campaign for for Michael O'Neill's side.

If only Scotland could have managed the same!
