Steven Caulker sends Jurgen Klopp message over Liverpool goal drought

Former Liverpool defender Steven Caulker has sent a rather tongue-in-cheek message to Jurgen Klopp.

Caulker had a very brief stint at Anfield in the second half of the 2015/16 season, during Klopp’s first year on Merseyside, during which time he made just four first-team appearances.

The former Southampton defender was signed amid a centre-back crisis at Liverpool, not to dissimilar to what is currently going on at the club, where Martin Skrtel, Mamadou Sakho, Dejan Lovren and Kolo Toure all suffered from injuries.

Caulker currently plies his trade at Turkish club Alanyaspor, and has made 17 appearances in the Super Lig where he has also scored two goals.

The 29-year-old is often remembered for being used in the striker role, including as a substitute on debut against Arsenal, and hasn’t forgotten how Klopp utilised his services.

Taking to Twitter, Caulker posted an image of himself in training scoring a goal, along with a funny caption aimed at Klopp and Liverpool.

“Klopp knew what I was about... #Number9,” wrote Caulker, accompanied with laughing face and ‘eyes’ emojis.

The tweet comes at a time when Liverpool are desperately struggling for goals, with none in their last three Premier League games.
