Steven Caulker responds to call for another Liverpool transfer as injury crisis bites

Former Liverpool loanee Steven Caulker has issued a cheeky response to calls for him to return to Anfield as Jurgen Klopp grapples with another centre-back crisis.

Caulker was signed on loan from Queens Park Rangers in January 2016 after the Reds suffered a host of injuries in defence.

He went on to make three substitute appearances before playing the full 90 minutes of the FA Cup tie at home to West Ham United, his final outing for the club.

Caulker, though, is best remembered for his late contribution at Norwich City when, having been brought on in the 89th minute, he joined the attack and laid on an assist for Adam Lallana to score a dramatic 95th-minute winner to earn a remarkable 5-4 triumph.

And the 28-year-old couldn't resist referring to that incident when responding to a tweet from Goal jokingly imploring Jurgen Klopp to "bring him home" in light of Joe Gomez joining Virgil van Dijk on the sidelines.

Caulker said: "I’m only coming back if I’m playing up front! #YNWA"

Caulker returned to QPR after his loan spell ended at Liverpool and later moved to Dundee in Scotland.

He then switched to Alanyaspor in Turkey in January 2019, where he has since become a regular for the team currently second in the Turkish Super Lig.
