Steven Bergwijn back in London as Tottenham prepare for possible training return next week

Tottenham winger Steven Bergwijn has travelled back to London ahead of Premier League clubs' possible return to training next week.

The January signing from PSV Eindhoven was given permission to return home to the Netherlands at the end of March for the birth of his first child but he is now back in the capital, with top-flight clubs hopeful of resuming training – under strict guidelines – from May 18.

Spurs did not rush back the 22-year-old because he was recovering from a sprained ankle, sustained at Burnley in March, but he is now fit again and should be ready to play if the Premier League resumes, as hoped, in mid-June.

Heung-min Son is also due back in London this week after completing his mandatory three-week national service in his native South Korea and is set for a spell in quarantine in line with government guidelines, meaning he could miss the resumption of training.
