Steven Adams wasn’t ‘surprised’ by Abdel Nader’s big night off bench

Russell Westbrook helped lead the Thunder to a 99-95 comeback win Sunday night against the Memphis Grizzlies after recording 12 of his 22 total points in the fourth quarter.

Westbrook hit two clutch shots late against the Grizzlies. The first was a 3-pointer to tie the game up at 93 apiece while the next one was a 19-footer to give the Thunder the lead.

While Westbrook certainly played well in the fourth quarter, it was Abdel Nader that had a strong outing in the first half to keep the Thunder in the game. The second-year forward scored 10 of his 15 points in the first half.

Thunder center Steven Adams was not surprised by his output.

It’s good. I’m not surprised … He works at it every single day, does a lot of drills for these moments. Of course, it’s good that he comes off of the bench and does his job so kudos.

The Thunder played their third consecutive game without Paul George and needed contributions from each player to piece together the win. The 15-point performance by Nader marked just the seventh time this season he has scored in double figures.

Nader hadn’t scored in double figures since he recorded 11 points against the Orlando Magic on Feb. 5 so the performance was surely encouraging for him.

The Thunder return to action Tuesday night against the Minnesota Timberwolves as the club begins a four-game road trip set to last eight days.
