Steven Adams on his mindset going into Game 3: ‘Just a bit pissed off’

With the Oklahoma City Thunder facing a 2-0 series deficit, it’s safe to say things haven’t quite gone their way against the Portland Trail Blazers. At least, Steven Adams certainly feels that way.

As the two teams prepare for Game 3 in OKC on Friday, the Thunder will be hoping that playing behind the home crowd can help turn things around against Portland.

At practice on Thursday, Adams was asked about the overall feeling of the team as they get ready for Friday night. In typical Steven Adams fashion, he didn’t hold back in his response.

[They] seem pretty focused, I think. Myself, I feel a bit [expletive], you know? Just a bit pissed off but that’s just me personally. I’m not speaking for them, that’s just for me. Obviously, it ain’t over. Just get a bit more fired up. Not too fired up, it’s more so just stay focused on what will help us win the games. There is a level of emotion you gotta play with. You can’t be too emotional and forget what you really gotta do.

While Adams said he was just talking about his feelings for the game, it is likely the rest of the team shares his mindset based on how the series has gone to this point.

As the team is down 2-0, it may not necessarily be time to hit the panic button just yet but they are running out of time. If they don’t win on Friday, it may be time to do that.

Game 3 is scheduled to tip-off at 8:30 p.m. CT.
