Steven Adams dishes on playing Enes Kanter: ‘It’s just another game’

With the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Portland Trail Blazers set for Game 2 on Tuesday, Steven Adams admitted that he may not be hanging out with Enes Kanter any time soon.

The two former Thunder teammates became close friends during their time together in OKC and have shared some friendly moments playing each other since he was traded to the New York Knicks nearly two years ago.

Those friendly moments may not come during the postseason.

Kanter told reporters after finishing off the Thunder on Sunday that he tried to talk to Adams prior to the game but Adams did not acknowledge him as he prepared for the matchup.

Adams was asked on Tuesday if there is time to hang out with Kanter.

There is time but I don’t want to. It’s just another game. It’s a team sort of thing. It’s not so much one player, it’s whatever our strategy is against their strategy. It wasn’t like this weird thing like, ‘Oh, this reminds me of that one moment we shared.’ No. It’s a game. We’re trying to kick each other’s asses.

With the NBA Playoffs in full swing, the time to be friendly with the opposition is long gone. The stakes are much higher now and the Thunder will be trying to even the series on Tuesday.

Kanter lit up the Thunder for 20 points and 18 rebounds on Sunday so Adams and the Thunder will be trying to make sure that doesn’t happen again on Tuesday.

Game 2 is scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m. CT.
