Steve Wilks praises Cardinals organization, wishes he had more time with team

The Arizona Cardinals changed head coaches after only one season after a 3-13 2018 season. Steve Wilks was fired and he now is defensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns under former Cardinals assistant Freddie Kitchens.

If he harbors any hard feeling towards the team, he isn’t showing them.

He was asked about his short stint as head coach when he was introduced by the Browns.

“That’s not my call,” he told reporters. “I will definitely say this — I have nothing but great things to say about the Arizona Cardinals and the organization, Michael Bidwill and the entire family there. This is a production-based league and we didn’t win enough games. Would I have liked to have more time? Of course, but again I have put that behind me.”

Wilks wanted to get right back to work as a coach and found that with the Browns. He said he had other opportunities but lined up his interview with the Browns first because that was the one he wanted the most.

Now he can reestablish himself with an up-and-coming team.
