Steve ‘The Hair’ Harrington dropped a fantastic song and I’m upset

Stranger Things’ third season dropped recently, and I thought the whole thing was fantastic. The show has grown into itself, and while some of the actors are stumbling into teenagehood, the show is more confident, funnier, sharper, scarier, all that good stuff.

A big part of that success is Joe Keery, who plays Steve “The Hair” Harrington, a role that started out as kind of a small bit where he played the school bully and has now transformed into one of the driving hearts of the show. I love Steve “The Hair” Harrington.

Over the weekend I found out that Keery is also a musician, who’d previously been in Post Animal, a band I know and like and had NO idea he was in. I also discovered this weekend that Keery has a new solo act, Djo, and he dropped a lead single.

The lead single is called “Roddy” and … it’s really freaking good. Listen to it. Go do that.

I am now mad online. Someone can’t possibly be this talented. This dude spends his weeks as a scene-stealing actor on a beloved show and then, on his off day, goes and drops an absolutely perfect piece of shimmering psych pop.

Listen to those lyrics. Feel that bass line. Steve “The Hair” Harrington just dropped a freaking candidate for song of the summer. Meanwhile, I’m feeling pretty good about publishing my second blog of the day, and yesterday I fell asleep halfway through Captain Marvel.

Do less, Keery. Enough. Jeez. Making me feel like a dingus over here.
