Steve Smith Tore Into Jerry Jeudy On-Air After Pre-Game Friction With Heated Rant

NFL analyst Steve Smith Sr. had a lot to say about Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy ahead of Thursday Night Football in Week 6.

Smith, who was live on-air for the NFL Network alongside Mike Garafolo, shared that he had attempted to apologize to Jeudy over some previous comments he made on his podcast which were critical of the 24-year-old receiver.

After explaining that his attempted apology was rebuffed by Jeudy, Smith broke into a fiery rant, during which he ripped into Denver’s wide out.

“I’m sorry that I said you were a J.A.G., just a guy, who’s an average wide receiver they used a first round pick on, that isn’t doing anything. I hope today that you show up in a way that you haven’t showed up in the last couple years since they drafted you...” said Smith.

“...And when teams call me and ask me, should they trade for you, I will say, ‘No. Don’t trade for Jerry Jeudy.’ Because he’s mentally unable to handle constructive criticism from people who watch specifically.. Can he be a wide receiver? He could be a wide receiver. He’s a Tier 3."

Smith pulled no punches with his on-air tirade against Jeudy, who will be taking the field against the Chiefs on Thursday night.

During the next segment of the pregame show, Jeudy could be seen dancing wildly in the background, directly behind Smith and Garafolo.

If Jeudy was aware of Smith’s rant at that point, he certainly didn’t appear to be bothered by it.
