Steve Morison installed as new favourite for Cardiff City job as Michael Flynn spotted in stands for Huddersfield win

Steve Morison is now the bookies' favourite to take over at Cardiff City, despite Michael Flynn taking in Saturday's win over Huddersfield Town.

Morison is now 6/4 favourite to take the reins in the Welsh capital, having overseen his first win as interim boss at the weekend.

A brace from Kieffer Moore saw City come back from a goal down to earn a 2-1 win over the Terriers, halting an 11-match winless run.

Morison was understood to have been given a run of three games as interim boss, but suggestions that he could yet be in line to take over long-term are beginning to gather pace.

That comes despite former Newport County boss Flynn attending Saturday's game.

The purpose of Flynn's visit is not yet clear, although this is not the first time his presence at Cardiff City Stadium has sparked speculation.

Back in 2019, he watched Cardiff's defeat at the hands of Severnside rivals Bristol City, a result which preceded the departure of Neil Warnock.

Flynn's presence predictably sent the rumour mill into overdrive, although he was quick to play down any links.

He told the South Wales Argus at the time: "There’s absolutely not one bit of significance in it whatsoever.

"I have a good relationship with Bristol City and Cardiff City and I’m sad to see a manager leave, but it won’t be me taking over."

Whether he could be in line to take over this time around remains to be seen.

Flynn has long been the red-hot favourite with the bookies, but is now 11/4 to make the move to the capital.

Former boss Warnock is priced at 6/1, while previous front-runner Jody Morris is at 10/1.

Odds in full:

Steve Morison 6/4

Michael Beale 14/1

Neil Harris 16/1

Daniel Farke 20/1
