Steve McQueen's Tate Britain exhibition visited by pupils from his former school

Children from Steve McQueen’s former school, Little Ealing primary, posed in front of the thousands of photos of London pupils that make up his new exhibition at Tate Britain.

More than 3,000 photographs of Year 3 pupils from 1,504 primary schools are lining the walls of its Duveen Galleries in a free exhibition.

Classes from state, independent, faith and special schools, pupil referral units and home-educated children all had their picture taken by Tate photographers for the project dreamt up by the Oscar-winning film-maker and artist, inset.

The Tate Britain show opens tomorrow and runs to May 3 with hundreds of the pictures also being shown on billboards across the capital’s 33 boroughs as part of the Artangel project until next Monday.
