Steve McManaman makes Jarrod Bowen to Liverpool transfer claim that West Ham fans will love

Jarrod Bowen was reportedly on Liverpool's transfer radar last summer and after an impressive start to the season the West Ham man is sure to be in demand once more.

The Hammer played a key role in West Ham's 3-2 victory over Liverpool and even pre-match he was the one opposition player the Reds manager Jurgen Klopp name checked in his press conference.

Klopp singled out Bowen for praise and the 24-year-old proved him right with a fantastic assist for Pablo Fornals goal.

"I like Bowen a lot, he made his way up from Hull and showed the Premier League what kind of player he is," Klopp said.

Despite the plaudits, Bowen has been receiving of late former Liverpool and Real Madrid winger Steve McManaman does not think a move to Anfield is a wise one for his former club.

"He’s a very good player. He’s doing really well at the moment," McManaman told Horseracing.net. "but hypothetically, if he signed for Liverpool tomorrow, then he wouldn’t play. So, I don’t see the point of it at the minute.

"It could be a great move for him in terms of playing for Liverpool but he’s not going to get in ahead of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mané or Diogo Jota. It’s always nice to have lots of players and I’m sure the manager would prefer to have 25 established internationals, but that’s not football.

"Bowen is playing really well at the moment for a club who are in the Champions League positions. Liverpool at the moment don’t need Jarrod Bowen."

Whether Liverpool need Bowen or not West Ham have no intention of letting their man go with David Moyes so impressed with his performances he believes the Hammer should be in the England set-up.

"Jarrod I believe has been knocking at the door for England but I also realise the quality England have got in wide areas; [Jadon] Sancho, [Mason] Greenwood, [Marcus] Rashford, [Raheem] Sterling," said Moyes.

"The players England have got in those areas is the biggest competition England have got, that part of the field. It would be good if we could keep Jarrod going because I always get a big thrill if I can get my players international games. It would be good if we could get Jarrod a cap."
