Steve McManaman highlights Thomas Tuchel's biggest problem as Chelsea boss amid Juventus win

Thomas Tuchel could struggle to keep his entire Chelsea squad happy throughout the 2021-22 season, according to former Liverpool ace and BT Sport pundit Steve McManaman.

The comments came ahead of the Blues' impressive 4-0 drubbing of Juventus in the Champions League, one which saw them move top of Group H in the process with one fixture left.

It was a game that also shone a light on the immense depth at Tuchel's disposal. For the clash, Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic came in to start.

On the bench were Romelu Lukaku, Timo Werner, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta while Mateo Kovacic and Kai Havertz continue to recover from injuries.

Yet still, the Blues were able to brush away one of Europe's biggest names with complete ease.

Chalobah opened the scoring in the first half before Reece James and Callum Hudson-Odoi made the points safe early in the second half. Werner was on hand to tap home a fourth in injury time.

While there was plenty of jubilation on the pitch and in the stands, McManaman has previously raised a point he thought could force an issue at the Blues, expressing his concern at what a lack of game time could mean to the big names on the bench.

"I just think 'how can they keep everyone happy?'," he said during BT Sports' coverage of the game.

"When I look at that substitutes' bench, nine of them at least are full internationals. They will not be happy to sit there come the end of the season.

"So, he will have to be incredibly clever to change around and give them all 20 games a season. Because that’s the hard part now.

"To keep 20 full internationals - who all think they deserve a place - happy, there and happy as a team and squad is the hard part for Thomas Tuchel."

This weekend brings with it another big game for the Blues as Manchester United travel to Stamford Bridge under the stewardship of Michael Carrick.

The former midfielder got off to a winning start in the dugout on Tuesday with a 2-10win against Villarreal and will be looking to claim a scalp against the Blues.
