Steve Mason's career as a Flyer is over, his agent said Thursday.
And Brian Elliott could be the person replacing him in the Flyers' nets.
Elliott will sign a three-year deal worth $2.75 million annually, according to Fox Sports Midwest.
Elliott, a 32, a onetime star at the University of Wisconsin, had a mediocre season with Calgary in 2016-17 (2.55 goals-against average, .910 save percentage) after five mostly excellent years with St. Louis.
Mason, 29, can become an unrestricted free agent Saturday, and general manager Ron Hextall has insisted that the "door is still open" for him to return to the Flyers. But Mason's agent, Anton Thun, closed the door on Thursday.
Asked in an email if Mason was still considering the Flyers or if that ship had sailed, Thun replied: "Google Christopher Cross' greatest hits."
"Sailing" was one of them.
Mason's 104 career wins place him third in franchise history, behind Hextall (240) and Bernie Parent (232). The Winnipeg Jets and Vancouver Canucks are among the teams showing interest in Mason, who was the Flyers' main goaltender the last four seasons.
Mason had a 2.66 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage last season. He finished strong, going 10-5-2 with a 2.14 goals-against average and a .926 save percentage in his last 17 games.
