Steve Kerr shares powerful message about his pregame ‘Vote For Our Lives’ shirt

As the Golden State Warriors arrived at Scotiabank Arena for Sunday’s Game 2 against the Raptors, Steve Kerr had a statement to make that had little to do with basketball.

The Warriors head coach took the podium wearing a “Vote For Our Lives” shirt. A decision he made in the aftermath of Friday’s Virginia Beach mass shooting that claimed 12 lives.

When Kerr was asked about the shirt in his pregame press conference, he said that Friday’s mass shooting was another reminder about how important it will be to vote for people who will make meaningful changes to the nation’s gun laws.

Kerr said:

“The shirts are a reminder that the only way we can get out of this mess is to actually vote. Vote for people who are gonna be willing to create some change in our gun laws in our country. The young generation — the March for our Lives generation — has really inspired me. So I offer my support to them and to all young people. And hopefully we can create a change where we don’t all have to walk around scared we’re gonna get shot in our country.”
