Steve Kerr says ‘there was a lot of cheering’ after former Warrior Andre Iguodala advanced to the NBA Finals with the Heat

Although they won’t be on their way to the NBA Finals for the first time in five seasons, members of the Golden State Warriors are keeping an eye on the action at Disney World.

While the Warriors are stationed in the Bay Area’s “Dubble.” a former member of the Golden State roster was on the court in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Former Golden State sixth-man Andre Iguodala laced up for the Miami Heat in game six of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Boston Celtics. The former Finals MVP tallied his 2020 playoff-high with 15 points on 5-of-5 shooting from the field. Iguodala added three rebounds and two steals in 28 minutes off the bench.

On Miami’s way to securing a spot in the NBA Finals, Iguodala splashed a handful of crucial shots. The veteran forward helped sway the game in the Heat’s favor, drilling 4-of-4 attempts from beyond the arc.

In a post-practice interview with members of the media, Iguodala’s former coach called his performance “incredible.” Steve Kerr told reporters there was “a lot of cheering” at San Francisco’s Chase Center when the Heat clinched a spot in the Finals.

Kerr via Warriors Sound Cloud:

There were a lot of people in this building that enjoyed the Andre [Iguodala] Show last night. That was incredible. He already makes so many plays that go unnoticed — when he does make shots, it just adds to what he already contributes. Seen this an awful lot — close out games — important games, that’s when he tends to knock down some bigs ones. So, there was a lot of cheering in this building last night.

Iguodala will now meet two other ex-Warriors in the championship series. JaVale McGee and Quinn Cook will suit up for the Lakers against Iguodala’s Heat for game one of the NBA Finals on Wednesday at 6 P.M. PT.
