Steve Kerr says Paul George is ‘having a spectacular year’ for Thunder

When it comes to the Oklahoma City Thunder this season, Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr doesn’t believe much has changed compared to past seasons.

With the exception of Paul George.

Of course, George is having his best season to date. The ninth-year forward is averaging career-highs in points (28.2), rebounds (8.1), assists (4.2) and steals (2.3) for the Thunder. As a result, George is widely considered to be in the MVP conversation.

But, Kerr hasn’t noticed too much difference with the Thunder this year.

Nothing dramatically different from past years because they’ve had this foundation in place for a while. Paul George is having a spectacular year. That jumps out. It’s still about Westbrook and his speed and his pace and force and Adams’ power underneath. Their overall defensive pressure — they force a lot of turnovers. They get a lot of offensive rebounds. You gotta be able to match their physicality and their speed, especially on their home floor.

The Thunder and Warriors have split the season to this point with the third and final matchup set to take place Saturday night. Golden State won the first game on opening night while OKC most recently won on Nov. 21.

In the previous two games against the Warriors, George posted 26 points, 5.5 rebounds, five assists and three steals.
