Steve Kerr says it’s ‘disappointing’ for LeBron and Lakers to miss playoffs

For the first time in five years, LeBron’s team and the Golden State Warriors will have their final meeting of the season in early April.

Even for, perhaps especially for the Warriors, it’s been odd to get used to seeing James in a Lakers uniform after so many years facing him and the Cavaliers in the Finals. And that familiarity has Warriors head coach even feeling a little bad for the season that LeBron James and his friend Lakers head coach Luke Walton have had to endure.

From Mark Medina of the Mercury News

“We got so used to playing him in Cleveland, so when a star player changes uniforms, it always takes a little while to get used to,” Kerr said. “I’m disappointed for him and for the Lakers. I want everybody to be healthy every year. It’s better for the league, it’s better for all the people involved.

“Luke (Walton) is one of my best friends, and it’s been a tough season to try to navigate. I feel bad for everybody involved, but as I said, it’s sort of part of (the job).”

Kerr also went on to say that he was impressed by Walton’s handling of everything that’s been thrown at him this season. Walton was previously an assistant on Kerr’s staff with the Warriors before taking the Lakers job in the summer of 2016.
