Steve Kerr reacts to devastating injury to Lakers DeMarcus Cousins

The basketball world was left in shock on Thursday morning when it was announced that former Golden State Warriors big man DeMarcus Cousins was diagnosed with a torn ACL injury.

Cousins played 30 games in his only season with the Warriors before leaving to join the Los Angeles Lakers and he had been hoping for a chance to play all 82 games after a few injury-riddled seasons with the Warriors and the New Orleans Pelicans. He had suffered a torn Achilles in New Orleans before suffering a torn quad in the playoffs for Golden State before this ACL injury.

Coach Steve Kerr spoke on the news at Team USA practice.

“I’m devastated for DeMarcus. It’s been a couple of years of hell. I was really hoping this season would be a chance to get healthy. We’re all crushed for him.”

Cousins worked very hard to get back in playing shape for the NBA Finals as he showed off a willingness to play and a love for the game and to see something like this happen is tough for everybody involved.
