The Golden State Warriors lost their 32nd game of the season on Monday (March 18) as they fell to a 119-112 defeat at the hands of the New York Knicks. The Warriors have struggled for consistency all season, and the energy they showed after the All-Star break appears to have run out in recent games.
When speaking to the media following his team’s latest loss, head coach Steve Kerr bluntly assessed his team’s current performance level. He understands that Golden State will need to play at a higher level to match the success of previous years.
“I don’t think it’s a lack of effort,” Kerr said. “We weren’t good enough. It’s that simple. We did not play well enough. It’s disappointing because we have these three home games here this week, and we wanted to get off on the right track…They’re a really good team and they outplayed us. It’s as simple as that.”
The Warriors came into this season with dreams of contending for a championship. The offseason addition of Chris Paul was supposed to lift their roster to a new level. However, things haven’t gone according to plan.

Kerr will hope his team can rediscover the intensity and drive that impressed them when they returned from the All-Star break. That version of the team looked capable of making some noise during the postseason. They will get another chance to put their season back on track when they face the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday (March 20).
