Steve Kerr not expecting Steph Curry to be available vs Mavericks

Steph Curry has missed the Golden State Warriors last two games. He suffered a rolled ankle when facing the Chicago Bulls on March 7. His MRI returned clear, meaning there is no significant damage. However, he will likely remain on the sidelines for the time being.

When speaking to the media following Golden State’s win over the San Antonio Spurs on Monday (March 11), head coach Steve Kerr revealed that his superstar guard is unlikely to participate against the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday (March 13). Curry’s absence has seen Chris Paul enter the starting lineup, where he has been performing admirably.

“Obviously, we’ll reassess tomorrow,” Kerr said. “But I don’t expect him to play in Dallas. We’ve got another tough game coming up…We’re in a fight right now down the stretch of the season. It was good to get the win and build some confidence without Steph, too.”

The Warriors are currently attempting to claw their way into the sixth seed of the Western Conference. By doing so, they would avoid the play-in tournament and the pitfalls that come with it. Curry’s injury has added a new layer of pressure to the Warriors roster.

The Warriors have 18 regular-season games remaining. They face an uphill battle to avoid the play-in tournament. However, they’ve looked drastically improved since the All-Star break, with the exception of two games. As such, there will undoubtedly be confidence within the roster that they can continue fighting their way through a difficult Western Conference.
