Steve Kerr credits Draymond Green for Wiggins and Kuminga flourishing

Steve Kerr has found a starting lineup that is working.

The Golden State Warriors head coach has been running with a frontcourt trio of Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga. That lineup has brought the best out of both forwards and has dispelled the narrative that Wiggins and Kuminga can’t coexist.

Speaking to the media after the Warriors defeated the Philadelphia 76ers on Tuesday, Kerr credited Green’s presence as the primary reason the partnership is working. He noted Green is playing the role of a connector, which is allowing Wiggins and Kuminga to both thrive.

“Draymond really changed things with his return because he connects those guys at both end of the floor,” Kerr said. “Just with his communication defensively and the way he helps get us organized offensively. Great to see Wiggs and JK playing so well, and playing well together. It’s fun. You can see the team is shifting a little bit with the look, and how we’re playing and who we’re playing.”

Against the Sixers, Wiggins and Kuminga combined for 47 points. They played well on defense and executed the game plan at a high level. Wiggins has been rumored to be a potential trade chip for Golden State in recent weeks; however, with him showing signs of improvement, the front office may choose to stand pat.

The Warriors still have a great deal of work to do. It’s not going to be easy climbing the Western Conference. However, settling on a productive frontcourt is a step in the right direction.
