Steve Keim impressed with Kliff Kingsbury’s work ethic this far

The Arizona Cardinals have not put together a roster yet with new coach Kliff Kingsbury. They haven’t played any games, drafted any players or made any game plans yet. Thus far, general manager Steve Keim has been impressed by the first-time NFL head coach.

What has most impressed Keim?

“To start right now, work ethic,” Keim said on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM. “I have always prided myself in being at the office early and I generally get there between 4:20 and 4:45, and Kliff has beat me every morning.”

Kingsbury puts in long hours at the office. He gets in early and stays late. Keim noted “Kliff is still in there” when he heads home in the evening and also said there is a mess of papers and play diagrams whenever he goes down to Kingsbury’s office, or Kingsbury is looking at film.

“It has been exciting to see.”

This is a good sign. It isn’t a guarantee for success, as even Steve Wilks put in the work. In fact, team president Michael Bidwill said after Wilks was fired he hadn’t seen a harder-working coach.

We will see later this year if Kingsbury’s hours results in production, but this is what you want to see, at least for now.
