Steve Kean reacts to Borussia Dortmund draw with Hibs youngsters 'buzzing' for UEFA Youth League tie

Steve Kean admits his Hibs youngsters are all 'buzzing' to face Borussia Dortmund.

The young Hibees have excelled in the UEFA Youth League this season having defeated FK Molde and FC Nantes in the opening two rounds of the competition. They now face the German giants in the play-off round with the one-leg play-off tie will be played on 7/8 February, 2023 at Easter Road.

Should the youngsters progress past this stage they would find themselves in the last 16 - where they would face one of the group winners from the Champions League path. Speaking about the tie, the Academy Director told the club website: "The lads are all buzzing for it. We know it will be a really tough challenge playing against a Dortmund side who have an excellent track record in terms of developing top-class players.

“But we are relishing the challenge, we have overcome good level opposition to get to this stage and have created a good belief and momentum within our squad."

He continued: “We have developed a good habit of winning and feel like we can take on anyone.

“With it being a one-off tie anything can happen. You saw how well we played at Easter Road in the first two rounds of the UEFA Youth League in front of our supporters.

“The crowd will play a big part once again and we are all hoping to see as many supporters inside Easter Road as possible."
