Bindi Irwin has paid tribute to her dad on social media just hours ahead of the annual day that celebrates his life and career.

In the snap she is only a little girl but is dressed up in a zookeeper's uniform to match her dad's trademark outfit.

Bindi shared the precious picture on her Instagram stories on Thursday afternoon alongside a countdown to Steve Irwin Day on November 15.

She also shared a crocodile emoji and a love heart sticker, proving that her dad is always in her thoughts.

Steve Irwin was a zookeeper turned TV star who earned worldwide fame for his affinity with crocodiles and the ease in which he could tame them.

He left behind wife Terri , daughter Bindi and son Robert, who was only 2 years old when he passed away.

Bindi has followed in her dad’s footsteps and even landed her own nature documentary series when she was just nine-years-old.

Steve owned and operated Australia Zoo, founded by Irwin's parents in Brisbane in 1970

His children and widow Teri all star in a documentary series following the family as they live and work at the zoo.

The Irwin family were recently in the UK promoting season two of their show Crikey! It's the Irwins.

Robert recently said: "As a family, we get to follow in dad's footsteps.

"We aren't trying to be him, but we are trying to finish what he started".
