Steve Davis believes aliens are real - and they could beat him at snooker

Green baize legend Steve Davis believes little green men are out there – and says they could beat him at snooker.

Six-times world champ Steve, 62, whose favourite books are science fiction, reckons extra-terrestrial cue maestros could exist.

He said: “I was world champion of effectively the ‘known world’.

“Everybody who had the chance to play snooker, I beat.

“But I still went, ‘Can you imagine if there is a planet in the universe where everybody is brilliant at snooker and it’s no big deal at all?”

Steve, who dominated the game in the 1980s, is an avid reader of the sci-fi series The Many-Coloured Land.

The books feature an other-world athlete called Felice Landry who goes into exile when she is accused of hurting her sport opponents.

Dad-of-two Steve, who lives in South East London not far from his Plumstead birthplace, said: “I really did get into the Many Coloured Land series.

“It’s the only book I’ve ever had dreams and nightmares about.”

He explained he was intrigued by “the idea, the concept of it”.

When asked if he was obsessed with science fiction and other life forms , Steve – whose opponents included hell-raiser Alex Higgins and Ray “Dracula” Reardon – said: “I’ve met a few people who may have been aliens.

“I definitely think they’re out there.”

Since giving up professional snooker, Steve has become a DJ in prog-rock electronic group The Utopia Strong and has DJ’ed at Glastonbury.
