Steve Davies: I want to stay at Hamilton, and will work to make it happen

Steve Davies scored the goal that secured Hamilton’s Premiership safety, and says if he has his way he’ll be banging them in more regularly next season.

The big striker is in talks with the club with a view to extending his stay at New Douglas Park beyond the summer, and hopes to get a deal done soon.

He said: “For me, personally, the goal is massive because I’ve given something back to a club that gave me a chance to come and play my football.

“From the players to every single member of staff, you get to know them, and you work with them day in, day out, so that was a ‘thank you’ for looking after me and making me feel welcome.

"It's an amazing club, I've met some amazing people, and we're going to sit down and speak over the summer, and hopefully I'll be here next season.

"I’ve spoken to the chairman and the manager and the manager wants me to stay, so I hope we can get it done, I can enjoy my summer, and then get back to work.

"I didn't have a pre-season at all last year, I ended up not doing anything for one reason or another, but I want to be at this football club. I've enjoyed myself, it's a great place to come to, it's somewhere I want to stay, and I'll be looking to do that."
