Steve Cooper sent clear Nottingham Forest striker message after Lewis Grabban update

Nottingham Forest could be without their captain Lewis Grabban against Barnsley after he suffered a knock last weekend.

The 33-year-old was forced off after just 27 minutes after colliding with Millwall goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski.

Ahead of the Wednesday night clash with the Tykes at Oakwell, Reds head coach Steve Cooper may face a selection headache in attack.

Forest fans have made their voices heard on social media, as they suggested who they would like to see replace Grabban.

Lyle Taylor, Brennan Johnson and Xande Silva are among the options for Cooper.

"Silva should surely be the first option in the striker role, at least he's got some quick feet and would create some issues if we play along the ground," one supporter said on Facebook.

Another added: "Taylor can't play the role we are asking, he can't hold up the ball or lay it off. He reacts to situations but has zero anticipation, we need to find some other way."

A third emphasised: "Definitely not (Brennan Johnson). Too young at the minute. Definitely prefer him using his pace out wide. I'd rather put 2 up and give the young lads Larson and Swann a go, who are doing well in u23."

Here is the rest of the reaction...

Phil Sutton: "I’m sure SC will speak to Taylor and try and get him to stay on his feet, jump for headers, try and run in channels and also be in the 6 yard box for the tap ins Brennan Johnson is creating."

Peter Bollard: "Taylor has had enough chances now. Why not give Silva a chance?"

Sean Griffiths: "Taylor's just dire at the moment so why not Silva? Would like to see (Will) Swan or (Julian) Larsson given a chance may shine may not but a chance is all they need, some nice young talent coming though who just may surprise us."

Lee Tilston: "Got to be Will Swan. He's scoring goals in the U23's, yes it's a step up but he's got nothing to lose really even if he plays three games and doesn't score at least he's got the experience of those games under his belt to start him off."
