Steve Cooper's furious two-word response to Swansea City's QPR humiliation as he lays into his players

Steve Cooper questioned the attitude of his Swansea City players after their woeful 5-1 FA Cup third round defeat to Queens Park Rangers and said: 'I'm fuming'.

The head coach made 10 changes to his side from the 1-0 win over Charlton, but those drafted in failed to grasp the opportunity to shine.

The Swans were 3-0 down at the break after a brace from Jordan Hugill along with a strike from Bright Osayi-Samuel.

Their humiliation was complete in the second half as Lee Wallace and Josh Scowen struck after George Byers netted what proved to be a consolation for the visitors.

And Cooper admits he was "fuming" with the effort from his players.

"We'll get some criticism, myself included and quite rightly. But I'm fuming, truth be told," he said.

"I can accept getting beat, but I can't accept not trying and not giving your all.

"There's not many times I've questioned attitude and belief, but I have today.

"It's self-inflicted. We've got no-one to blame but ourselves.

"Our basics of attacking and particularly defending were nowhere near the average, never mind beyond that.

"Unfortunately if you're not willing to get up to people to tackle and to intercept, you run the risk of conceding chances and goals, that's what happened today.

"I thought every goal, we could have done better defensively.

"There's no rocket science to defending, if you're not willing to play with a bit of heart and soul, you can get run over like we did today."

And on making a raft of changes to his starting XI, Cooper said: "We changed the team today because there's been a lot of games, but we put a team out that we thought we could win, but for some reason we didn't want to take individual responsibility of making sure that performances were close to being of the level needed.

"The players had an opportunity today to get through to the next round and to try and stake a claim in the team. Some of them will be disappointed that they haven't played much football in recent times, but when you get an opportunity, you have to take it and that they didn't do."

Swansea return to action against bitter rivals Cardiff City in the South Wales derby next Sunday.
