Steve Cooper's half-time words as boss reveals how Swansea City came from behind to beat Hull City

Steve Cooper has revealed he urged his players to increase the tempo for the second half during his half-time team talk in the win over Hull City.

The Swans went behind after just three minutes at the Liberty Stadium as Daniel Batty flicked Kamil Grosicki's shot beyond debutant Freddie Woodman and into the back of the net.

But the hosts were much improved after the break and sealed an opening day victory thanks to goals from Borja Baston and Mike van der Hoorn.

And Cooper has said he didn't even mention the scoreline to his players at the interval as he felt his side were in control of the contest.

"Obviously delighted to get the three points, and good for it in the end,"

"Going 1-0 down at home is never an easy scenario, especially in the first game of the season.

"But I've got to say, I thought the fans were brilliant after that goal. It could easily have gone the other way.

"We were just ok in the first half truth be told. I wasn't too bothered about being 1-0 down, obviously the longer that goes on the more it becomes an issue but we controlled the game.

"We didn't play to the levels we want to and can play at. Even though we dominated possession I thought we could have been a lot firmer with our attacking play. I thought we could have played forward a lot quicker.

"That was the message at half time. We didn't even mention the scoreline.

"It was about saying we're doing ok, but we're better than that. We gave them some simple messages and they got back to the level that they should be fairly quickly."

Swansea return to action against Derby County at Pride Park on Saturday afternoon.
