Steve Cooper gives recruitment latest as he praises one particular area of Swansea City's set-up

Swansea City's new head coach Steve Cooper says he has been impressed by the set-up at the club since his arrival.

Cooper was announced as Graham Potter's successor at the Liberty two weeks ago and met the press last week as he gave his first media interviews.

Now, speaking to the club website, Cooper has given an update on his staffing situation and revealed an area of the club's infrastructure that has impressed him.

“We need to bring a few more staff members in, but there are good members of staff already here at the training ground and the stadium,” he added.

“The medical team, for example, is an established and high-performing one and we’ve had some productive meetings already.

“But it’s about working together, the most important thing in all of this is the football club. We have to build on what’s already in place and look forward.”

Swansea are still waiting to bring in a head of recruitment to complete the club's management structure. The search continues, with chairman Trevor Birch conducting a thorough process to get the right man in the door.

And Cooper has praised the club for bringing in Mike Marsh to work alongside him. The former Liverpool man has a longstanding relationship with Cooper and the pair will link up again in the Liberty dugout.

“Mike and I have worked together for a long while, he has huge experience as a Premier League player, as well as a Premier League and Champions League coach,” said Cooper.

“In addition, he brings experience of the Championship from his time at Huddersfield with David Wagner.

“So, not only can we look to hit the ground running with the way we want to work in terms of the coaching and playing methodology, but we also have trust in each other.

“I am delighted to have him on board, I believe the club have made a great appointment in Mike and I hope we can carry on working strongly together.”
