Steve Coogan dedicates Alan Partridge series to memory of nephew Will Coogan

Alan Partridge star Steve Coogan has dedicated his latest BBC series to the memory of his nephew Will Coogan.

A plain black screen in honour of Will was left after the final credits of This Time with Alan Partridge on BBC One on Friday night.

It read: "Dedicated to the memory of Will Coogan 1991 - 2021".

Will, the much-loved son of Steve's brother Martin Coogan and wife Joanne, died earlier this year aged 29.

Will was a talented musician and composer and had previously made waves in the music world with his sister Mary Joanna as the Mary Joanna Band.

The Manchester-based band had featured in the MEN in 2014 when they first launched their debut works, following in the footsteps of their musical dad Martin, who is a founding member of the Mock Turtles.

He combined his passion for the arts with a love for science as a gifted PHD student.

Actor and comedian Steve, from Middleton, recently returned to the BBC with his best-loved character Alan Partridge, for the second series of the spoof daytime show This Time.
