Jubilant Scotland boss Steve Clarke has branded John Souttar 's heroic Scotland return the "best story ever".
The Hearts defender netted the opener against Denmark before Che Adams completed a remarkable World Cup qualifying victory to finish Group F on an almighty high.
It now means Scotland are among the seeded teams heading into the semi-final draw, and caps off a remarkable return from injury for Souttar.
The 25-year-old earned his fourth international cap, his first since 2018, after a long road back from three Achilles injuries.
When asked about Souttar's return by Sky Sports, Clarke quipped: "Best story ever, eh?
"I'm so happy for him, so happy. He's had a horrendous time with injuries and to come back; I know he was delighted just to be in the squad and to get the opportunity to play.
"To play the way he played, not just defensively, but to go the way he did with the ball, it's a great story."
The beaming Scotland boss couldn't resist a cheeky dig at those who poke fun at his demeanour after the convincing win over the Danes.
Clarke laughed: "I'll start with a smile.
"I always get criticised for not smiling, but if you can't smile after a performance like that from your players there is something wrong with you.
"I'm delighted. Everything came together. We were always on the front foot. It was a really good night for us.
"I knew the players would go in with confidence and they showed that tonight.
"It was always going to be a difficult night, and at times we knew we had to dig in.
"Our legs went a bit towards the end, and the boys came on to do the job."
