A first major tournament in more than 20 years is edging closer for Scotland but there is plenty to get excited about in the meantime too.
Before we can focus on the summer, there are World Cup qualifiers with Austria, Israel and the Faroe Islands to take care of later this month.
And Steve Clarke has named a squad brimming with freshness and promise as he looks to get some momentum building in their first games of 2021.
There may not have been places for David Turnbull or Ryan Gauld, but two new strikers in the form of Kevin Nisbet and Che Adams should bring some goals to a team lacking in attacking verve.
The backbone of the team who conquered Serbia remains in place with Declan Gallagher, Ryan Christie and Lyndon Dykes among 21 players who hold down places in the squad.
But Jack Hendry returns amid his resurgence in Belgium, while English-based John Fleck and Grant Hanley are also back in the mix.
Here's what the Scotland boss told Sky Sports on some of his players who've made it and missed out.
On Jack Hendry

"I think it's really important to have him. Obviously Grant Hanley's back in the squad as well, I had Grant in the squad in November but he had to pull out with an injury.
"Jack's a player that I've known from my time working in Scotland. Obviously he was a great prospect at Dundee, I liked his attributes.
"He went to Celtic and it didn't quite work out for him but he's shown a good maturity and gone away to try and restart his career.
"He came back from Australia where he picked up an injury, then he's gone out to Belgium, playing at a good level, week in week out. Unfortunately I can only watch him on video, it's not been possible to get out to Belgium to watch him live.
"Sometimes the best way to pick up a player and find out how he is in the squad is to get him in and have a look in training.
On Che Adams
The Scotland boss didn't have too much to say on his new striker, after persuading him to come and earn a place at the Euros despite previously rejecting his advances.
He said succinctly: "Hopefully Che Adams can give me something different up front."
On Jon McLaughlin
"With the goalkeepers, I've got to mention Jon McLaughlin. He hasn't played much for Rangers recently due to the outstanding form of Allan McGregor.
"But goalkeepers are always in a slightly different position. I've got confidence in all three of them. We had a really good dynamic with the goalkeepers last camp and we've decided to stick with it."
On Liam Cooper
"He's just not available for the games. I spoke to Liam, he could maybe have been available for the third game but it's not going to happen.
"We had a good chat about it and we decided just to go with the ones that I've picked."
On John Fleck

"It's been a difficult season for everybody at Sheffield United. Unfortunately Chris Wilder lost his job recently which is never nice.
"John's a player I like. I've had him in the squad before, he actually picked up a very serious injury playing for us in October against Slovakia.
"I believe it was a broken back, which sounds bad, and he was out for a long time. It's taken him a little bit of time to find his feet.
"Recent performances have been good, and he deserves his place in the squad."
On David Turnbull
"I think when you look at the players we've got there in midfield, it's a really strong area.
"David's a good player, he's done really well, and certainly one for the future and one to keep an eye on."
On Kevin Nisbet
"Kevin's shown this year that he's a good goalscorer. I like his movement in the box, I like the way he finds space in the box.
"He had a missed opportunity to go to Birmingham in the January window, but he's recovered well from that.
"I've spoken to his manager who's pleased with his attitude in training. I've watched his last couple of games and I feel Kevin's got the bit between his teeth.
"It's an area where we don't particularly excel. If you look at the last few games there's not too many goals.
"I should mention that I've got the last three goalscorers in the squad, with Fraser, Christie and Dykes, and hopefully Kevin can give us something a little bit different."
On Leigh Griffiths
"I think for Leigh it's well documented that he's not getting much gametime at Celtic. I've spoken to all the boys who were in the last squad and not in this one, and they know what to expect and what to do to try and get back in the squads.
"Leigh is one of those players."
