Steve Bruce speaks of when he expects to hear something about Newcastle United takeover

Steve Bruce has been asked once again about his thoughts on Newcastle United’s takeover saga.

Amanda Staveley, the Reuben brothers and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund are all waiting for a decision from the Premier League.

Extra measures have been taken in Saudi Arabia to clamp down on piracy, but Bruce says no message on change has reached him yet.

Bruce said: “I’m brutally honest I’m not really interested in it because I can't influence that.

“I'll hear something when probably you guys hear something.

“My job is to remain focused and keep taking the club forward.

“What I want is what's best for the club. I have to focus on trying to end the season in good form.

“We are aiming to finish well.

“That’s all I’m focused on, finishing the season strongly.

“Now we have the opportunity to say: 'Can we finish in the top 10?'

“That would be a wonderful achievement."

United’s would-be buyers remain confident of getting approval from top-flight chiefs, however, the Premier League have not made a decision as it stands.

The process for the owner’s and director’s test has been ongoing but has taken until the 12-week mark - more than twice as long as then process usually takes.

Bruce, though, insists he is aiming for a top-10 place.

He said: “That’s what the aim is, we will go for the top 10 and see where that takes us.

“Our physical levels have been good.

“Our data figures have been exceptional.”
