Steve Bruce verdict on whether Callum Wilson will return for Newcastle at Crystal Palace

Newcastle United will welcome back Callum Wilson for the clash with Crystal Palace.

The former AFC Bournemouth man missed the 2-0 defeat against Chelsea due to a hamstring injury sustained at Southampton.

However, Bruce stated that the squad are struggling with other issues, including Covid-19 problems.

When asked on Wilson's availability, Bruce: "Yeah. As we speak now he is fit and has trained all week.

"We didn't think we could risk him.

"He has made a difference for us with six goals so we are delighted.

"We have niggles and one or two problems with Covid."

When asked to expand on who was unavailable - specifically with Covid issues - Bruce added: "Covid is one problem but we don't want to go into individuals.

"We are in a decent place with injuries though.

"Two or three indviduals are self-isolating."
