Steve Bruce, Tottenham, Wolves, and the Simon Jordan reply that angered Newcastle fans

Simon Jordan has responded to a tongue-in-cheek question from a Newcastle United fan linking Steve Bruce to the vacant posts at Tottenham and Wolves.

The talkSPORT host has regularly clashed with the Magpies fanbase throughout the season for his views on the head coach and the team's form.

Jordan was one of a number of pundits to come to Bruce's defence during a dismal run which saw Newcastle record just two wins in 21 matches.

The Magpies were on the brink of slipping into the relegation zone following an abysmal defeat at Brighton in March.

However, a turnaround in form saw United cement their Premier League status with three matches to spare, and earned Bruce the manager of the month award in April.

Nuno Espirito Santo became the latest Premier League manager to leave his post on Friday after Wolves confirmed he would leave at the end of the season by a 'mutual agreement'.

Crystal Palace, Tottenham, and relegated duo Sheffield United and West Brom are all looking to fill their managerial hotseats.

It has led some disgruntled United fans to joke about the prospect of Bruce leaving Newcastle for a top-flight rival.

One fan even directed his question to Jordan and former Newcastle midfielder Jermaine Jenas, and earned a response from the talkSPORT host.

Twitter user Liam the Ghoul asked: "If Steve Bruce (Brucie) is as good as you say he is, why aren’t you suggesting he’d be a good appointment for Wolves or Spurs?"

Jordan replied: "Because the poor fool wants to manage #nufc and listen to ghouls like you."

It was a response which was not well received by United fans on social media.

One supporter posted: "It's a genuine question though. Why not?

"Why isn't he coveted if he's so amazing? You can't answer, can you?"

Another fan replied: "Howay Simon, you can do better than this!

"This is a genuine, and very valid point being raised.

"If Steve Bruce is doing such a good job, and you all rate him so highly, why is he not in the running for other PL jobs?"
