Steve Bruce thanks his players for 'response' after Brighton crisis

Steve Bruce has thanked his players for their efforts after turning the season around.

The Magpies were staring relegation in the face after the 3-0 defeat against Brighton & Hove Albion just over a month ago.

But Newcastle are now four games unbeaten and Bruce has even found himself as a contender for April manager of the month.

Bruce said: "When you take away the horror show at Brighton we have put a run together.

"All of us in the dressing room knew there needed to be a response.

"We are in a much better place than a month ago."

When asked what the secret of recent success has been Bruce added: "You can change formation or personnel.

"I have to say thank you to my staff as well.

"But I can't say thank you enough to the players."

Newcastle take on Arsenal on Sunday and can all but secure their place in the Premier League with a win.

Victory would leave them needing one point from the last four games.

Bruce said that other than the absence of Joe Willock, who can't play due to loan rules, he has no new injuries in his squad.

Fabian Schar played 45 minutes of the Under-23 win over Crystal Palace.
