Steve Bruce talks about the 'big part' Martin Dubravka has to play in FA Cup days after rare mistake

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce has backed Martin Dubravka to bounce straight back from a rare blip against Aston Villa by playing his part in the huge FA Cup clash against Manchester City.

The Slovakia international has made the most saves in the Premier League this season with 119 so far and is just two clean sheets behind Alisson for the golden gloves in the top-flight.

Bruce has rotated his goalkeepers in previous cup rounds but the Toon boss hinted he would not be changing things between the posts for the clash with Manchester City.

Bruce said: "He has played very well, Martin.

"I am sure he will be just as disappointed as I was because let's be honest it was a soft goal.

"Jonjo probably got in his way but knowing the way Martin is he will be disappointed that he let that one through.

"It's our first goal conceded in five games at St James'.

"We will have to be at our resilient best at the weekend.

"Martin has a big part to play. If you are going to get something from Man City then you need your goalkeeper to play very well.

"He's done that all year since coming into the club in the last two years, he's had a wonderful rise.

"Let's see if he puts that one behind him."
