Steve Bruce takes training as wait for Newcastle manager decision goes on

Steve Bruce has overseen the latest Newcastle United training session as the head coach awaits a decision on his future.

The Magpies boss is widely expected to depart ahead of Sunday's encounter with Tottenham as a result of the sale of the club.

Graeme Jones is likely to be handed the role on a temporary basis while the consortium take their time before confirming the head coach's successor.

Bruce met with part owners Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi on Monday at the club's Benton base, but was omitted from the gallery and footage of the visit released by the club.

Speculation over his replacement continues to dominate the headlines, with Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers now considered the bookmakers favourite.

Lucien Favre, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, and Roberto Martinez are among the contenders linked with the St James' Park hotseat.

Despite this uncertainty however, Bruce has continued to lead the team as scheduled ahead of Sunday's televised encounter.

The Magpies remain winless this season, and could suffer their fifth defeat in just eight Premier League matches when they host Nuno Espirito Santo's side.

Yasir Al-Rumayyan - who represents the 80% stake of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund on the club's board- is expected to be in attendance at St James' Park on Sunday.
