Steve Bruce says Newcastle will move quickly on transfers, even with takeover uncertainty

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce says that the current regime are ready to get transfer business under way on Monday when the transfer window opens for the summer.

Bruce again stated that "clarity" was still needed from the Premier League on where the takeover saga stands with the a bid from Amanda Staveley, the Reuben brothers and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund.

Bruce, though, is keen to add numbers to his squad in time for the September restart.

The Toon boss said: "When I say business as usual, we've got one or two things in the fire right now. Let's hope we can pull them off.

"We've got competition.

"My job is to keep knocking on the door and asking the question.

"I really want us to improve and get better.

"We need to improve the squad but also ensure we get value for money."

When asked again about the takeover, Bruce added: "Look, we need a resolution to that one way or the other but all I can do, along with Lee Charnley is plan for what we need and work on that.

"A lot of previous planning has been disrupted because of what has happened in the world."
