Newcastle United face Everton with a plethora of midfield options - despite Jonjo Shelvey's absence following a hernia operation.
Steve Bruce admitted in the build-up that there had been a clamour to include offensive players such as Miguel Almiron and Ryan Fraser.
Having delivered that on his team sheet, he confessed after the 1-1 draw that his line-up had lacked ball winners with Shelvey out and Isaac Hayden still tender with a hamstring injury.
The fully fit Sean Longstaff missed out on a place in the starting line-up while his younger brother Matty played on Friday in the reserves in a 1-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion in Premier League 2.
With both available this weekend, Bruce must decide whether to recall either Hayden or one of the Longstaff brothers, or persevere with Fraser and Almiron in more central roles as part of a 5-3-2 formation which allows Jamal Lewis and Jacob Murphy to bomb on from wing-back areas.
After the Wolves clash, Bruce said: "We have to get the ball back.
"You can have as many attacking players as you want but you have to get the ball back.
"If you can't get the lion's share of the ball it will always be a problem for us.
"We didn't have anybody in our front six.
"With all the problems we've had.
"But we'll look at that."
Sean Longstaff will have been disappointed to miss out at Molineux while Matty Longstaff will genuinely be champing at the bit to be involved.
The 20-year-old agreed a new contract to stay in the summer but barely played in the run-in last season.
His last piece of senior action came when he was afforded just four minutes in a 3-1 home defeat against Tottenham Hotspur last season.
He played only half a game against Crewe Alexandra in a 3-0 pre-season win in York before sustaining a thigh injury.
With that problem now shaken off with two second string games under his belt, including 90 minutes at West Brom he is there to be selected.
Bruce will feel like one selection debate replaces another every week on Tyneside but by the same token, he won't complain at having some good options ahead of the home encounter with Carlo Ancelotti's men.
