Steve Bruce reveals the two things he has refused to consider in the build-up to the clash with Manchester City

Steve Bruce admits that he has not looked back at Newcastle United's 2-1 win over Manchester City from January ahead of the champions return visit to St James' Park.

Bruce is also refusing to get carried away by the absence of Sergio Agüero who has punished Newcastle on numerous occasions in the Premier League.

United's starting line-up to that famous victory could be very different at the weekend with the likes of Salomon Rondon and Ayoze Perez now departed from Tyneside and Jamaal Lascelles, Matt Ritchie and DeAndre Yedlin injured.

When asked if he'd popped the DVD on in his office this week, Bruce said: "I haven't looked upon it.

"I remember it, but what has happened in the past is a long time ago now.

"We're practically a different team now.

"We will just focus on what we can do and hopefully can still repeat the result, that would be nice."

Agüero has scored 15 goals against Newcastle in his top-flight career but he won't be getting a crack at the Magpies this time around.

When asked if it could be a factor, Bruce joked: "No they have Brazil's centre-forward (Gabriel Jesus) instead!

"They have unbelievable balance and depth to their squad.

"They have proved that over the years.

"They have a mentality that is there for everybody to see.

"You can only applaud them for what they have done but we can still get stuck in and cause an upset."
