Steve Bruce reveals 'busy 48 hours' and talks about what he's expecting to happen on deadline day

Steve Bruce says he is braced for a "busy 48 hours" ahead of deadline day.

Newcastle United have until 11pm on Monday night to get deals completed and are set to sell DeAndre Yedlin to Turkish giants Galatasaray to free up squad space for a loan deal.

Bruce is also waiting to learn of Matt Ritchie's future to see whether a second loan deal could come in tomorrow.

United have an interest in Hamza Choudbury but as of Sunday lunchtime they had not submitted official bids for Ainsley Maitland-Niles of Arsenal or Celtic's Olivier Ntcham.

The Choudbury deal has been discussed in great detail between Bruce and his close pal Brendan Rodgers, but Leicester are waiting to get their home game with Leeds done and dusted before finalising transfer plans.

Bruce said: "We will see what develops, it will be a busy 48 hours.

"We are talking to a few clubs and we hope we can still do one or two things yeah."

When asked if the absence of Ritchie - linked with AFC Bournemouth again - was because he is about to leave the club, Bruce said: "Not necessarily.

"But I had to leave five behind and it is always difficult but we nearly have everybody back fit.

"Unfortunately, the ones that we haven't are centre-backs.

"Ciaran Clark has come back in but it looks like Jamaal will need a good a few weeks so we are a little bit threadbare in that position."
