Steve Bruce reveals an England legend told him to take Newcastle job, and responds to Shelvey and Darlow claims

Steve Bruce says he will wait to see all of the facts before deciding his stance on reports his players were involved in a late night row in a pizza shop in Morpeth.

Both Karl Darlow and Jonjo Shelvey were confronted by revellers in the Northumberland town but Bruce is expected to talk to both players after their trip to China.

When asked about the situation, Bruce said: "Anything like that, I’ve already spoken to Karl and I’ll speak to Jonjo.

"I don’t know everything that has gone on, but we will deal with it, I will deal with like I always have done, in house.

"We will found out what’s gone on and if needs be, they will be disciplined."

Meanwhile, Bruce has also revealed that David Beckham urged him to take the Toon job.

Alan Shearer had told Bruce to turn the job down, but speaking on Beckham, the newly appointed gaffer said: "You’ve got to do it people said.

"I don’t want to mention names but David Beckham was one of them.

"I’ll have to show my daughter that text message."

Newcastle will train again on Sunday in Shanghai before heading home to the UK.
