Steve Bruce reacts to takeover talk at Newcastle United after chat with Lee Charnley

Steve Bruce says that talk of a Middle East takeover at Newcastle United has proved "unsettling" for his squad this week.

But the Toon head coach has revealed he asked for clarification from managing director Lee Charnley on where things stood on a possible change of owner.

Bruce also held talks with Mike Ashley earlier this month when nothing on takeovers emerged from the meeting.

Bruce said today: "I don’t get involved.

"It is an unsettling effect in everyone.

"We are just concentrating on the game tomorrow."

Bruce then stated what Charnley had told him, he said: "If there was something to talk about Lee Charnley (the MD) tell me.

"At the moment he says there is nothing in it."

When asked about the transfer window so far, Bruce said: "We have gone about it in the right way.

"The three we have bought in have added quality.

"Whether we do any more today I doubt."
