Steve Bruce provides Newcastle United injury latest ahead of Man City FA Cup tie

Steve Bruce has provided the Newcastle United injury latest ahead of Manchester City 's clash with the Magpies this weekend.

Man City head to St James' Park to take on Bruce's side in the FA Cup quarter-finals on Sunday, a Wembley semi-final at stake.

And Pep Guardiola 's men will face a mostly fit and firing Newcastle side, Bruce has revealed in his pre-match press conference.

Magpies stars Matt Ritchie and Isaac Hayden suffered knocks last time out, but both are in contention as the clash draws near.

"We will see how they are today," said Bruce. "Yesterday was a recovery session.

"We would have been kidding ourselves if we did not think we'd pick up soft tissue injuries.

"We will see how they are in the next 48 hours."

He added: "We have one or two knocks and niggles, but on the quiet, we've done OK."

Bruce also discussed just how big a miss it is to not have fans inside St James' Park for the FA Cup tie.

"A quarter-final against a great team like Man City," he said. "How great would it have been to be in front of a full St James' Park? It would have been terrific."

When the two teams met earlier in the season at St James' Park, City were only able to pick up a point, drawing 2-2.

The second Premier League fixture is set to go ahead at the Etihad just 10 days after Sunday's FA Cup tie.
