Steve Bruce makes a huge Joelinton call - Newcastle team news

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce handed Joelinton a place in his starting line-up at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian replaced Dwight Gayle and started his first game since the 3-0 defeat at Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

Gayle will be disappointed to drop to the bench after just one start this season at Stamford Bridge during the 2-0 loss against Chelsea.

Bruce made just one change to his side after the defeat in the capital but the Toon boss and his team go into this clash under more pressure after Fulham's win over Sheff United last night.

The United chief resisted the temptation to start with Matt Ritchie or Ryan Fraser despite the team lacking creation against the Blues.

Both were on the bench but there was no place for Matty Longstaff - despite his two goals against Man United last season.

UNITED : Darlow, Krafth, Lascelles, Clark, Lewis, Hayden, Shelvey, Willock, Almiron, Saint-Maximin, Joelinton.

Subs : Dubravka, Dummett, Carroll, Ritchie, Gayle, Hendrick, Fraser, Murphy, S Longstaff
